A new Word

Back to work. Had to send an e-mail...

"First, I would like to ____ that I was late." I could not think of the word. I know of the concept, but the word I wanted was gone. "app.... " something. Went home at lunch to ask Wendy. She figured out the word and laughed -- it is a word I use rarely, like once in a decade. I do not "apologize" for anything.
