In December of 1966 I graduated from Tech School, Warner RObbins Keesler AFB, Mississippi, and was assigned to the 2879th G.E.E.I.A. Squadron at Athens AFB, Athens, Greece.
GEEIA, the Ground Electronics Engineering and Installation Agency, was the part of Logistics Command, United States Air Force, that engineered and installed the ground communications required by the Air Force. Back in the late '60's we were installing Troposcatter radios to provide high bandwidth long range telecommunications, the 486L project IIRC. I enjoyed my four years in the Military, as well as it giving me the start to my life-long career.
Component stereos were the rage, and I purchased a Sansui AU-70 intergrated amplifier for the heart of my system. I recently sent that amp to the bone yard, but not before I removed the old "Installed by GEEIA" sticker that I had applied to it in 1967.
We had placed these stickers on all the equipment we installed. Most likely all long gone. This may very well be the last example in existence.
But GEEIA was disbanded, and no one cares about our little part of history.
(editted 1/9/05 to correct where Tech School was.)
I was in the 2874 th. Geeia Sq. in 1964 and I still have about 50 of the "Installed by GEEIA" stickers all in new condition

I Spent my last six months in the 5th MOB, Warner Robbins. Separated the end of Feb. 1970.
